Restore Hope Community Centre After Severe Flooding

The Hope Community Centre in Baton Rouge, Louisiana has served as the heartbeat of its neighbourhood for over 20 years. It provides after-school programmes for 150 children, a weekly food bank for low-income families, and free mental health clinics for local residents in crisis.

In September, unprecedented flooding caused by Hurricane Ida's remnants caused catastrophic damage to the building. The roof collapsed in two sections, the electrical system was destroyed, and the floor and walls suffered severe water damage. FEMA assistance covered only a fraction of the estimated $90,000 in repair costs.

Until the centre is restored, hundreds of children have nowhere safe to go after school, and vulnerable families have lost access to critical support services.
